Challenger Chorus
Goals, Guidelines, & Responsibilities
2018-2019
Goals
Members of Challenger Chorus will develop performance and social skills through participation in the large group ensemble as well as solo and smaller ensembles, demonstrate proper performance/concert etiquette, demonstrate a sense of pride and accomplishment through the pursuit of musical excellence, and gain personal satisfaction by performing as a member of an ensemble. Challenger Chorus will strive to further students’ academic musical knowledge as well as artistic expression.
Challenger Chorus promotes trust, respect, and unity with all students involved in the ensemble. Members are also expected to exhibit high standards of behavior, academics, and school spirit at all times.
Guidelines
-Members and families must abide by school guidelines and responsibilities as expressed in the Student Handbook.
-Members and families must abide by Challenger Chorus guidelines and responsibilities at all Chorus functions.
-Members need to exhibit excellent, non-disruptive behavior at all rehearsals and events. Consequences will include a warning, call to parent, and possible suspension or expulsion from the ensemble.
-Students may not quit one Music Department ensemble to join another without the consent of both directors.
-Members must maintain a C average in every class at PEC, including Specials and will not be allowed to attend rehearsals or performances until grades have been raised to an acceptable level as evidenced by a current Progress Report.
-Members must return a signed permission slip by the second week of Chorus rehearsal for the new school year/semester after being accepted into Challenger Chorus.
-Members must submit a written explanation from parents/guardians for any missed rehearsals by the next rehearsal.
-Members involved in other extracurricular activities are required to submit their schedules (with all possible conflicting dates highlighted) as soon as they become available and whenever they are updated.
-Members must submit a written excuse 2 weeks in advance if unable to attend a concert or other performance.

Unexcused absences include but are not limited to: missed rehearsal/performance with no written excuse from parent or guardian, ASD or suspension, staying at home for homework or school projects. Exceptional circumstances will be taken into consideration on a case-by-case basis.
Responsibilities

Chorus functions.
-Families may be responsible for costs related to functions that the school will not cover.
-Members are expected to commit to the ensemble for the entire school year and must give written notice signed by a parent/guardian before the end of the school year if they will not be returning the following year.
